Room to Breathe

$200 million has been allocated over 2016-2017 to 2026-2027 to build additional living spaces such as bedrooms, granny flats, bathrooms, and outdoor cooking places, to improve the liveability of existing homes.

Room to Breathe is designed to:

  • ease the pressure of over-crowding in existing homes
  • allow homes to be better used
  • reduce wear and tear
  • provide opportunity for family-based accommodation options for kinship care, elderly and high dependency tenants.

Tenants have direct input into the extensions to their home.
