Room to Breathe

$200 million has been allocated over 2016-17 – 2026-27 to build additional living spaces such as bedrooms, granny flats, bathrooms, and outdoor cooking places, to improve the liveability of existing houses.

Room to Breathe is designed to:

  • ease the pressure of over-crowding in existing houses
  • allow houses to be better used
  • reduce wear and tear
  • provide opportunity for family-based accommodation options for kinship care, elderly and high dependency tenants.

Tenants have direct input into the alterations and additions to their home.
