Land clearing and gravity sewer construction began in June 2020 in the community of Beswick to enable the subdivision of 18 lots in preparation for new homes to be built, subdivision works are expected to finish in early 2021.
Located approx. 118km south-east of Katherine, more than 500 residents live in Beswick, home of the annual Walking with Spirits Festival.
Under the Our Community. Our Future. Our Homes investment in remote housing Beswick community has four additional bedrooms and one additional living space completed under the Room to Breathe program and 14 new homes approved to be built with one home currently under construction under the HomeBuild program.
In addition to the $1.1 billion Our Community. Our Future. Our Homes. program, $426 million is being invested in land servicing and headworks to increase the serviced lots and related infrastructure to support new houses. Work includes subdivisions, headworks, and establishing electrical, water and sewerage infrastructure to create new residential housing lots.
