Early works supporting local employment opportunities

In 2016/2017 the Department of Local Government, Housing and Community Development fast tracked $10 million to start an early works component of Room to Breathe in 22 communities for Our Community. Our Future. Our Homes.

To date, Room to Breathe has achieved 71* extra living spaces, 70* additional bedrooms and 36* other improvements for remote Territorians.

Room to Breathe is supporting local employment, training and development. To date, it has achieved 52 per cent aboriginal employment, which has enabled local people to actively take part in the economic development of their community.

Further to this, 13 Aboriginal Business Enterprises have been contracted to deliver the work in 17 remote communities.
