The Gunbalanya community has recently celebrated the completion of five new three bedroom homes, with more than half of the construction undertaken by local Aboriginal workers through GT Builders.
Through consistent engagement with the community, our staff worked to find solutions which were appropriate to the needs of respective residents.
This included raising one home, due to its location near the billabong.
These five news homes are in addition to the eight already built in Gunbalanya under the HomeBuild NT program through Our Community. Our Future. Our Homes.
With another 44 new homes planned, there’s a huge need for more room in the community for the new builds.
On top of the new houses, there’s plans to service 38 lots, with 12 serviced lots already completed.
The home near the billabong was built up with stairs to reduce flooding during wet season.
