Helping Mount Liebig tenants return home whilst maintaining physical distancing

Mount Liebig residents Katrina Pareroultja and Marcus Wheeler were happy to return to their home much sooner than expected after it had recently been upgraded under the Room to Breathe program.

Once the upgrade works were completed, Tenancy Contract Officer Courtney Hey and Property Contract Manager Gene Gilby made it a priority to apply for remote essential worker travel permits to ensure they could handover the property as soon as possible.

“Once we got the all clear, we spoke to Katrina and Marcus prior to travelling to assure them of the hygiene and physical distancing precautions we have put in place due to Covid-19,” Courtney said.

“They understood and were pleased to be able to move back into their newly refurbished home,”
she said.

The upgrades included a new storeroom, enclosed verandah, internal and external painting, and dust suppression strip, pathways, kitchen redesign and new clothesline and hardstand.

Another home in the community was completed last week. It received two additional bedrooms with robes, additional shower, enclosed verandah, internal and external painting, an outdoor living area, storeroom and barbeque.

There are an additional nine homes to receive work in a contract awarded to Bullant Building, bringing the total to 11 upgraded homes in Mount Liebig community under the Room to Breathe program.
