Kybrook Farm residents: Proud of their work in their community

Patrick beams with pride at his work on the Room to Breathe project and is particularly keen to show off his newly acquired tiling skills.

“They signed us up here, working three days a week, it’s been really good,” he said.

He is one of 12 Kybrook Farm residents working on the Room to Breathe upgrades in the community with Power Projects, through the $1.1 billion remote housing investment package Our Community. Our Future. Our Homes.

The program is working with communities to promote local economic development and develop local skills to build and manage housing.

“I’m learning new stuff from the carpenters, and making new friends too as I work with them," Patrick said.

Sean is one of the people Patrick has been working with.

“I’ve had some of the local boys give me a hand and learn some stuff off me, and they’ve been very enthusiastic to learn and very helpful, so it’s all going well,” Sean said.

11 homes are currently receiving Room to Breathe upgrades in Kybrook Farm.

Patrick’s father was among the first residents to have work completed on his home.

“My dad is really proud of it now, it’s really good now to live in there, it’s a bit more comfortable inside,” he said.
