Pride and excitement for Kybrook Farm

Lily Deegan’s home was one of 13 homes to undergo Room to Breathe renovations in Kybrook Farm, a community south of Pine Creek.

Lily Deegan is the sister of one of the workers who renovated her house in Kybrook Farm.

“[My brother] has been doing some building in the house, helping out with repairing and everything. He made friends with the builders and they were happy with him,” Lily said.

“He learned some good skills on the job. He was proud of himself too.”

A total of 13 existing houses are receiving extensions under Room to Breathe in Kybrook Farm.

“Everyone in the community can’t wait to see changes and there’s different kinds of work such as verandas and bedrooms being built,” she said.

For Lily’s house, a bedroom has been added. “We had a bedroom built and the floor’s been made better. The tiles, windows, toilet and shower look much better than before.”

“It is much better now with the addition of the extra room, more comfortable.”

During the work, tenants move into temporary accommodation.

“We moved out and stayed in a different house but still in the community. [It was] better to be close to easily see what was happening in my house,” Lily added.
