Residential subdivision completed in Yirrkala

The Northern Territory Government has committed $432.3 million to the land servicing and headworks infrastructure program to support the $1.1 billion Our Community. Our Future. Our Homes. remote housing program, releasing serviced land and associated service infrastructure for current and future housing projects.

The community Yirrkala is located on the east coast of the Gove Peninsula in north-east Arnhem Land, 18km south of Nhulunbuy. In June 2022, Territory contractor Earthbuilt Pty Ltd, completed the delivery of the new 30 lot residential subdivision providing new serviced land to build new homes.

Through local decision making the location of the lots were decided in consultation with the community, and were designed and documented entirely in-house by the Housing Program Office - Land Servicing and Engineering team.

The new 30 lot subdivision includes concrete paths and driveways, road side kerbing, formalised drainage and streetlighting raising the standard of land servicing infrastructure in the community.

The community has provided feedback to Housing Program Office staff of their excitement and can’t wait for new homes to be built on the subdivision.
