The Northern Territory Government has committed $432.8 million for land servicing and associated headworks infrastructure for current and future remote housing projects.
The works will support the Territory Government’s $1.1 billion Our Community. Our Future. Our Homes. remote housing program.
In April 2022, Territory contractor A1 Plant and Civil Pty Ltd was awarded the contract to deliver a new 20 lot residential subdivision in the remote community of Ngukurr, approximately 320km east of Katherine along the Roper Highway. Following completion of the subdivision, the newly serviced land will be used to provide extra homes for the local community.
The new development is directly adjacent to a 22 lot subdivision constructed in 2019. Stage 2 of the project was designed and documented entirely in-house by the Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics’ Housing Program Office - Land Servicing and Engineering team.
The new subdivision will include concrete footpaths and driveways, road side kerbing, formalised drainage and street lighting, raising the standard of land servicing infrastructure in the community.
The subdivision is expected to be completed in December 2022.
