Subdivision works completed in Ramingining

The Northern Territory Government has invested $432.3 million into the land servicing and headworks infrastructure program to support the Remote Housing Investment Package, Our Community. Our Future. Our Homes. by developing serviced land for current and future housing projects.

The community Ramingining is located on the edge of the heritage listed Arafura wetlands in Central Arnhem Land. Ramingining is located 435kms west of Nhulunbuy. In November 2021, local contractor Fred (NT) Pty Ltd, completed the delivery of the new 33 lot subdivision and upgraded infrastructure to build new homes.

Through local decision making the location of the lots were decided in consultation with the community, and were designed and documented entirely in-house by the Housing Program Office – Land Servicing and Engineering Team.

In addition to the 33 new lots, the subdivision works also improve the general standard of infrastructure in the community through the sealing of existing unsealed roads and downstream drainage improvements.

Some fun facts about the subdivision include:

  • earthworks in cut: 7,300 cubic metres
  • earthworks in fill: 4,300 cubic metres
  • length of road: 595 meters
  • length of water main: 533 metres
  • length of sewer main: 683 metres.

The community has provided feedback to Housing Program Office staff of their excitement and can’t wait for new homes to be built on the subdivision.
