Peggy Gallagher is a respected Elder in the Areyonga community, and a member of the Areyonga Housing Reference Group.  She speaks about the positive impact the $1.1 billion remote housing investment package Our Community. Our Future. Our Homes is having on her community, and the further need in Areyonga in order to build a strong future for their children.

Peggy Gallagher is a proud member of Areyonga’s Housing Reference Group (HRG), helping to inform local decisions about the housing needs in her community.

Twelve homes have been improved in Areyonga, under the Room to Breathe program, as part of the $1.1 billion remote housing investment package Our Community. Our Future. Our Homes.  Modifications to a further nine homes are underway.

Input from the Areyonga HRG has been vital to ensuring a happy and healthy community.

“There’s other people that are crowded and there’s not much room for others. There’s a younger generation growing up and we want to look at the future of Areyonga and build more houses,” Peggy said.

“They’re doing a really good job.

When they fix houses and renovate it, it makes the community happy and exciting to see people moving into new houses,” Peggy said.
