Five Aboriginal workers including two residents from Minjilang have their hands full, working on three new homes in the community.

Local Binjari workers Michael Murrimal, Thomas Frith, Terrance Farrell and Justin Marone are constructing three new homes in their community under the HomeBuild NT program.

The Gunbalanya community has recently celebrated the completion of five new three bedroom homes, with more than half of the construction undertaken by local Aboriginal workers through GT Builders.

More than $55 million worth of contracts have been awarded to Aboriginal Business Enterprises (ABEs) under the $1.1 billion remote housing investment package, Our Community. Our Future. Our Homes.

In addition to the $1.1 billion Our Community. Our Future. Our Homes. program, $426 million is being invested in land servicing and headworks to increase the serviced lots and related infrastructure.

Bawinanga Aboriginal Corporation has increased its staffing from eight to 21 employees. This includes up to 12 local Aboriginal employees, of which, five are full time. It credits this increase to the HomeBuild NT and Room to Breathe programs.
